nestled in Mid-Hudson Valley, NY
We are Iota Alpha Omega, the 375th chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, located in Poughkeepsie, NY. Chartered on December 6, 1969, Iota Alpha Omega has proudly been of “Service to All Mankind” for well over 50+ years to the residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley and its surrounding communities.
Our chapter presents with a diverse group of college educated women whose accomplishments, backgrounds, talents / resources are as diverse as those represented. From private and professional backgrounds to seasoned retirees, we are proud of our broad, multigenerational representation, as it affords us a greater opportunity to serve our local community and beyond.
Since our chartering, we have provided well over $135,000 in scholarships and grants to help in furthering the education and promotion of youth leadership / development. Our commitment has fostered relationships and partnerships with many other organizations and businesses. While our programs of service have been designed to support the vision of our International focus on a local level.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was the first Greek Letter Sorority for African American women founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15, 1908. In our 113 year legacy, our current International Program, Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service, led by our President, Dr. Glenda Glover, is a call to action and a call to service.
